First of all congratulation for yor works. I’m really impressed and I cannon answer to the question: how it’s possible to shoot a Great Grey Owl with a 16mm? Wonderful shot.

I would like to ask some info about your Bag.

I’ve bought a 300 2.8 IS and now it’s time to change my photo bag.

I’ve the following equipment 7D / 300 2.8 / 2 Teleconverter / 70-200 2.8 / 24-105 / 10-20.

Do you think that a Lowepro trekker could be a good choose.
I need a bag tha could be put in airplane cabin.

P.s. What do you think about the HPRC 3500? Could be good for extreme wheater? It’s able to carry like a standard bagback in your opinion (and to carry my equipment?

I too was impressed by your resistance to -300C temperatures. Not only did you manage to scout out a place colder than absolute zero, but you survived! I am going to call up my old physics teachers and tell them they were all wrong!

thanks for the response! i own the 600mm f/4 is as well…and i think i have a computrekker….so we’ll see what i can do.

Hi Jason

The 500/4 is much easier for travelling, but the 600/4 (without the shade) fits in a “modified” LowePro Computrekker!
I´ve had both lenses and the 600/4 is in my opinion best, but the 500/4 is most useful on travels..

what bag do you carry your 600mm in? also i am at a crossroads. i have the 1d IV, 300mm 2.8 is, and am deciding between the 500mm is and 600mm is. Which of those two would you choose if you had to choose one?

Well look at that; it is the 800. I didn’t see it on your gear list on the side and just assumed you didn’t have one. Color me embarrassed.

Hi Isurus

If you look close you will see that it is a 800/5.6L that is in my bag, not the 600mm. For this assignment I used the 800mm, but usually I have the 600/4.0L with me. If I need a lighter lens I also can go for the 500/4, so my chosen long lens is very dependent of what I´m after.

Quick question: Any reason that you do not include the 800mm in your kit? Given you do wildlife photography, I’d think you would appreciate one for the extra reach.

Come on, look at Ole. Bag opened, snow all over the $10.000.00 600mm f/4L IS USM. I don’t dare ask my Wife if i can buy one of those. Still working on the 300mm. Yes its Dust & Water resistant i know, but still…I would be looking over my shoulder all the time, too afraid some one would try to steal it, AND I would polish it every night….lol. I have to admit, he knows how to take the pictures. Oh did i mention Ole, not only do i want your job, i want the 600mm also.
